Professor of Pediatrics
M.D., Tufts University School of Medicine
Research Interests:

Research in my laboratory focuses on the pathogenesis, detection, treatment and molecular interactions of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and human cytomegalovirus (HCMV). We are studying the phenotypic and genotypic properties of HIV that are associated with mother-to-infant transmission, CNS impairment, disease progression, and cellular factors that modulate viral replication. Studies of the molecular determinants of antiviral resistance to HCMV and HIV are also ongoing. Research on the molecular interaction of HIV and HCMV is examining the modulation of viral replication during dual infection, cellular factors influencing these interactions, and the effect of both viruses on programmed cell death.
