Gregg Silverman
Professor of Medicine
M.D., Rutgers Medical School
Research Interests:

Dr. Silverman is the author of over 100 peer-reviewed and invited articles on autoimmunity, immune tolerance and mechanisms of BCR-mediated apoptosis. Recently published papers have characterized the structural basis of binding interactions of a model B-cell superantigen, and the impact of exposure on the host's immune system. These studies have demonstrated a profound impact on a primitive tier of B cells responsible for natural antibodies that have a role in defense from infection, and from the development of atherosclerosis and autoimmune disease. Dr. Silverman's research group is also involved in developing new technologies for the evaluation and treatment of autoimmune and neoplastic disease. He also directs a course on phage-display and antibody engineering at the Cold Spring Harbor Laboratories.
