The lab is identifying key growth factors and genes necessary for the development of epithelial tissues such as kidney, breast and pancreas. A broad array of cellular, biochemical, molecular and informatics tools are being used. In vitro systems have been created to study branching morphogenesis, formation of ducts and tubules, and epithelial-mesenchymal interactions. Translational work relevant to tissue engineering and recovery from injury is also being carried out.
