Adjunct Professor of Biology, The Salk Institute
M.D, Ph.D., Tufts University School of Medicine
Research Interests:

Our laboratory focuses on the cAMP responsive transcription factor CREB, whose phosphorylation by PKA stimulates transcription via the recruitment of the co-activator CBP. Remarkably, CREB is phosphorylated at the same site in response to a variety of signals besides cAMP; but these do not promote cellular gene expression via CREB due to a block in CREB:CBP complex formation. Current work in the lab is focused on identifying cofactors that discriminante between cellular signals by regulating formation CREB:CBP complexes.
