Research Interests:

The three major areas of research activity of my laboratory group include: 1) Cybernetic systems which examine the specific mechanisms utilized by the tubuloglomerular feedback system within the kidney which involves expression of brain NOS in macula densa cells and other adaptive mechanisms; 2) The regulation of cellular growth filtration and reabsorption early in the process of experimental diabetes which involves a variety of enzymatic transport physiologic studies including molecular expression of transcriptional and translational factors; 3) The regulation of cell proliferation and inflammation by arginine metabolites which includes the interregulation of major arginine enzymatic pathways which are critical to cell inflammation synthesis of polyamines via ornithine decarboxylase and synthesis of extracellular matrix via OAT.
